IT Infra on Motadata

The Customer is one of the largest cars manufactures in India and have majorly in Manufacturing (Machinery & Equipments) business. It is one of India’s leading innovative car manufacturers infusing technology and design to make its cars meet new age expectations smoothly and in a much efficient manner. To achieve the same, they needed to consolidate their network monitoring operations for a unified view.

The Challenges

Customer did not have a centralized monitoring system for network devices to get a view of non-performing components that creates issues for active components across their Head offices and showrooms. As opposed to this they were using an open-source network monitoring solution that had its own limitations and supported an outdated infrastructure. There was an urgent need to move to a modern newer generation hardware installation across the entire production line in Gujarat plant to overcome the challenges such as limited scalability, manual intervention that was time consuming and difficult to integrate with 3rd party systems. They were using disjointed tools all across the plant for monitoring and network configuration management making it difficult for visibility and correlation analysis. Another challenge that was faced by Customer was to identify network devices consuming maximum bandwidth.

Modules/Support Offered

Motadata supplied & implemented the end-to-end product suite from Monitoring to Network configuration Management with 5 years of support for the customer.

Key Solution Highlights
  • Unified Monitoring: Motadata offered seamless network and flow monitoring of various applications, servers, firewall, switches, database across their Head-offices and showrooms through a user-friendly interactive Unified Dashboard. It facilitates auto-discovery of devices in IT infrastructure, viewable through network topology displayed over a centralized monitoring console.
  • RCA with Context: Motadata offered advance root cause analysis tool to troubleshoot issues faster to get more actionable insights when critical issues were discovered. The platform eliminated the need to manually interpret dozens of data sources to know the root cause.
  • Network Topology: The client could visualize interconnectivity in their complete network across all layers with network topology. Automated network discovery allowed them to rescan and automate topology/relationship in order to auto-detect changes.
  • Flow Management/Network Flow Analyser: The module helped to check and monitor the bandwidth / traffic pattern and determine, how network bandwidth is being utilized. It enabled to generate real-time insights into bandwidth usage or the amount of network traffic caused by IP addresses, protocols, or programs. An important aspect is that it supports leading flow technologies by capturing flow data to monitor network traffic from network devices primarily flow in this case.
  • SLA Tracking & Management: The platform offered default as well as customizable SLAs based on priority. With SLA tracking and management, technicians are able to resolve incidents quickly based on priority, get notified of SLA breach, and measure SLA performance with a compliance monitor.
  • Powerful Alert Management The module helped the authorities to manage notifications and alerts sent on collaborative tools and manage SMS upon reaching thresholds.
  • Automated Configuration for Change, Backup and Restore: The NCM module helped save time and effort by simplifying recurring complex configuration changes instead of executing manually on multiple network devices across the plant. It even helped monitor robotic arms used for manufacturing & managed recovery of configuration changes and device failures by restoring latest configurations.
  • Network Security and Compliance: The module helped Improve overall network security by easily identifying vulnerabilities with vulnerability assessment. It helped to assess and enforce compliance with critical security standards using OOB reports for FISMA, PCI DSS etc.
  • Lower TCO: The complete platform offered was plug and play with database included which reduced the TCO greatly for the company.
